HOW TO ENGAGE

Engagement models, sized to the problem.

Forbury is built to be flexible. The shape of the engagement is set by what the business needs, not by what the firm wants to sell.

FOUR OF OUR MOST USED MODELS:

01: Advisory Retainer

Standing relationship with James.
Defined by a number of hours or days per month, usefully structured around pivotal decision point in a programme, board preparation, executive coaching, strategic counsel, and the conversations a CEO or chair needs to have with someone who is in the room but not on the payroll.

Suited to organisations going through sustained change, post-deal integration, or strategic repositioning, where having a trusted senior mind on call is more valuable than commissioning each conversation separately.

02: Project Mandate

Defined scope of work priced against deliverables and value.
An integration, a divestment, a transformation diagnostic, a target operating model design, a digital strategy refresh. Led by James, resourced from the Forbury network as required.

The model that boards use most often: a clear problem, a sponsored mandate, a senior owner, an outcome.

03:Day Rates & Ad Hoc

Short, sharp interventions.
A second opinion on a contested decision. A short, sharp review of a programme that has lost its way. A pre-board challenge of a paper that needs to be right. A focused intervention with an executive team.

Day rates are agreed up front. There is no minimum commitment.

04: Embedded Interim

CTO in seat.
Where a board needs a Chief Transformation Officer in seat for a defined period. To incept a programme, lead it through a critical phase, or hold the role while a permanent appointment is made.

Full-time or near-full-time, with all of the accountability of an executive role.

What every engagement looks like

Engagement shaped to the work, not the other way round.

01

A direct relationship with James. No account layer, no intermediaries.

02

A scope that is shaped, not sold. We define the problem together before we propose how to solve it. Forbury will turn work down if the shape is wrong.

03

Commercials matched to the work. Retained hours, day rates, project pricing, outcome-linked fees, whichever fits the engagement.

04

Specialist depth on demand. Our expert network is leveraged when the work calls for specific technical or additional delivery depth. When it does not, it is not.

START A CONVERSATION

Most Forbury engagements begin with a single conversation: no obligation, to understand the problem and decide whether - and how - to take it further.
